PRP To Tinubu: Money Can’t Buy Another Mandate

Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has told President Bola Tinubu that he cannot purchase popularity with money.

Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has told President Bola Tinubu that he cannot purchase popularity with money.

The party in a statement by the National Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, described the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna on Saturday as “clumsy and outrageously-expensive failure”, and said it was an attempt by the party “to sell deep unpopularity to a hostile nation.”

PRP said the APC leadership assumed that splashing a trillion naira to organise an event in Kaduna would make Nigerians forget unprecedented levels of poverty and insecurity under which they live in the last three and half years.

The party stated that it is worrisome for APC leaders to assume that spending more and more of public resources would buy them popular support.

PRP regretted that as the APC deploy armed policemen to protect its billboards during the Kaduna rally, bandits were abducting local residents from their homes in Kaduna metropolis.

“Villagers in many parts of Nigeria were paying for the failure of the APC administration to protect them with freedom, ransom and dignity,” the party said.

It condemned the assassination of Sheikh Yahaya Masussuka at his home at Dutin-Ma in Katsina State, demanded the arrest and prosecution of his assassins immediately.

PRP stated that Nigerians would continue to demand its right to be protected “even where it would have made up its mind that another term for the APC will only deepen our exposure to kidnappers, killers and crushing poverty.”

According to the party, notwithstanding APC’s delusion, the 2027 presidential election “will bring an end to its failed leadership,” adding that Nigerians would continue to demand that they are protected and allowed to live a dignified existence.
